What We Don’t Like
Synthetic oils are generally not compatible with diesel engines and Valvoline synthetic oil is no exception. It becomes troublesome if you own gasoline and diesel driven vehicles & can’t use the same oil for both.
There’s no extra charge for shipping the product to you but the packaging can be improved to withstand the unpredictable shipping environment that can result in leakages.
If you are looking for fuel efficiency, look no further than Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil. The oil is actually recognized by leading auto makers. The oil offers total protection from extreme weather conditions. It’s a brand that’s designed to balance between being cold and hot. This is because low temperatures can cause an engine to take too long to start.
The oil remains light despite being exposed to freezing cold. On the other hand, high temperatures can cause the oil to break down and leak out. In fact, the oil can not evaporate when heat builds up in the chamber. The oil is recommended for cars that use gasoline. It’s therefore not suitable for diesel engines.
You your starts running on this oil, you will experience a reduction in fuel consumption. This is because the oil increases the rate of combustion in the engine. Other than being a lubricant, the oil doubles as a cooling agent by taking away all the heat that’s generated in the engine.
The Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil protects the engine from corrosion. You can actually use the car for many months without draining the oil. This helps in ensuring that the moving parts don’t rust despite being idle for a long time.
Instead of harbouring toxins in the engine, the oil helps in removing them as it circulates inside. As a matter of fact, the oil is distilled just like alcohol to ensure it’s free from impurities. It’s therefore different in terms of quality. You can use this oil without fear of damaging your car because it has been approved by major car manufacturers in the US.
The oil is fairly priced which means most people can afford it. The good thing is that it’s packaged in a 4 liter gallon. You can therefore use it more than once. In fact, it can be recycled after being drained and still run your engines like brand new. The price is inclusive of shipping cost.
Comparison:
Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil is cheap and yet refined to meet the international standards specified by most car makers around the world. However, there are other oils in the market that can be substituted with this brand. They include Castrol Edge Synthetic Motor Oil and Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil.
Castrol Edge Synthetic Motor Oil comes with a viscosity of 5W which means it remains thick throughout its lifespan. It actually keeps the moving parts safe from friction by lubricating them with a thick layer of oil. The fact that it’s synthetic implies that it can be used on high performance engines without breaking down.
It fights the accumulation of deposits such as dirt and debris. Moreover, the oil can survive from harsh weather conditions. The oil is highly recommended by Ford and Chrysler among other manufacturers.
Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil comes with approval from Dexos and is licensed by API. You can therefore use the oil with confidence. The oil is designed to be used in gasoline engines. The oil is packaged in a 4 liter container that has a convenience handle. The oil features a viscosity of SAE 5W which implies it can’t be affected negatively by either cold or hot weather. All in all, the oil protects the engine from wear that is often caused by rusting and leakages.

Verdict on Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil
All the credit goes to Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil. This is because it’s lighter than the other oils due to its viscosity of 0W. Besides that, the oil can be used on any engine that runs on gasoline. The downside is that it can’t be used on diesel engines. Castrol Edge Synthetic Motor Oil is the second best deal in the list. The oil is thick and yet affordable. It comes with viscosity of 5W. The downside is that it’s only meant for gasoline engines.
Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil is at the bottom of this ranking. This is because it costs more than the other products in the list. However, it’s still worth buying because it can be recycled and can survive from bad weather.
FAQ:
Can you mix other synthetic oils with Valvoline synthetic oil?
Valvoline is compatible with most synthetic oils so it’s possible to mix it with other oils. Keep in mind: by mixing Valvoline with other oils you’re decreasing it’s effectiveness and quality. It’s always best to stick to one brand to maintain the high quality of the oil.
What will happen if I never change my oil?
Well, the short of it is your engine will eventually shut down. Lubrication is essential to keep all the moving parts in the engine functioning optimally without friction.
If you fail to do regular oil changes your engine will first take a dip in performance and then overheat gradually & than completely seize.
Is it possible to switch back to conventional oil after using synthetic oil?
Yes, you can. There’s a misconception that once you’ve used synthetic oil you can never go back to using regular motor oil. Synthetic oil is merely a combination of conventional oils and synthetic oils. So, it’s perfectly safe to switch back and forth between the two.
Would you recommend synthetic oil for older car models?
Some of the older car models have diesel engines that aren’t compatible with synthetic oil. We recommend conventional oil for high mileage and older model cars simply because conventional oil has a thicker oil base that works best with older models.
What’s the distilling process of synthetic oil?
That’s actually a well-kept secret in the commercial world but what we do know about synthetic oil process is:
- The base is mostly made up of crude oil
- This crude oil is distilled to remove the impurities from the oil
- After distilling the oil it’s modified chemically and this makes it lighter and changes the composition of the oil
Why is synthetic oil more expensive than conventional motor oil?
Because of the laborious refinement process to make it healthier for your engine, it comes at a higher price than conventional oil. Conventional oil doesn’t go through the same rigorous refining process as synthetic oil so it doesn’t incur the same costs.
How many miles can you go on Valvoline full synthetic oil?
Valvoline recommends that you change your oil every 3,000-4,000 miles. If you go past this, they set their limit at 6,000 miles. Beyond this the company cannot cover your engine.
Note, nothing keeps your engine alive and kicking like changing the oil when it is required and the oil does not deteriorate to the extent that it does not offer protection anymore. With the right use of Valvoline the company guarantees protection for up to 300,000 miles.
The synthetic oil features additives that protect your engine and improve its performance. For instance it features thermal properties that prevent break down in high temperatures. Also it features cleaning agents that keep the engine clean and healthy.
Is Valvoline 5w30 synthetic?
Valvoline 5w30 is a full synthetic oil. Full synthetic means it does not come from refining crude oil. It is human-made in the lab. It features additives and chemicals that meet the different needs of your engine.
For instance, it is a challenge for conventional oils to protect your engine in extreme temperatures. First, conventional oils do not flow fast in cold temperatures to lubricate the engine. They also do not prevent friction and wear during startup.
Additionally, conventional oils break down when the engine heats up. 5w30 in Valvoline full synthetic oil represents the viscosity grade. Valvoline protects your engine even in temperatures as low as 5 degrees and does not breakdown in high temperatures.
And Valvoline 5w30 full synthetic oil is ideal for use in all weather conditions, including winter and summer. The synthetic oil also comes with additives that enhance performance for your engine. For instance, it is rust and oxidation resistant and it prevents the formation of any corrosive material in your engine. This enhances the durability of the engine.
Is Valvoline Synthetic good oil?
Valvoline synthetic oil is an excellent oil as it meets the needs of your engine. It also keeps the performance of your engine at its peak. What’s more, Valvoline synthetic oil is cost-effective. Because of its enhanced performance it leads to less fuel use. Therefore, you will have fewer trips to the pump to refuel.
Also, Valvoline synthetic oil does not dissipate in high temperatures and you can enjoy extended drain intervals. This saves you a lot of costs that you would have used in maintenance shops.
The fact that it meets the requirements of most car manufacturers also makes it safe for use in your vehicle. You do not run the risk of voiding your car’s warranty by using synthetic oil. But, ensure you check the manufacturer’s manual for recommendations and instructions on its use.

the oil removes ALL the engine heat = bullshit
https://valvoline.promo.eprize.com/engineguarantee/display_page?page=case_for_3000_mile_oil_change
Volvoline’s “Engine Guarantee” requires you to change their synthetic oil every 3,000-4,000 miles for the life of your engine-forever to qualify for their guarantee. Go a mile over and it is game over. At the price of their oil per quart for synthetic, I’d expect them to go more than 3,000-4,000 miles for oil changes. This is “extended performance” motor oil that acts like your father’s/grandpa’s convention oil? You have that little faith in your motor oil? Change it at 5,000-7,000 miles would be more like it. That is a lot of wasted motor oil being changed before its time. I go for the 5w-30 synthetic DEXOS1 rated motor oil that is on sale at the time and change it every 6K miles or so and call it good.
